A big challenge for us was deciding on the actual specifics of the design for the solution. We knew we wanted to use magnets, but how we would use the magnets was the issue for us. We toyed around with different ideas like having magnets in the wheels or the hubs, but ultimately decided that having the magnet on the frame of the bike would work best. My proudest moment was seeing our actual prototype for the first time. This project we had been slaving over for months and months had finally come to fruition. It is no longer just an idea we were talking about, now it exists.
If I had advice for future students, it would be to really think ahead and decide if this is a project that you're going to be excited to work on for months. There is a good chance that your solution will not look how you want it to look, work the way you want it to work, or break ground the way you want it to break ground, but what is important is that you are doing work you want to do and that you will be proud of. Don't just pick an issue because your friends are in the group, or because it seems easy. Pick an issue that interests you and will keep your creative juices flowing, because that's where the enjoyment will come from.
